Anthony Frangi is a Media and Communications expert with more than 30 years’ experience in media management, broadcast media, journalism education and consultancy. He is currently Managing Director at Pop Up Radio Australia designed for the conference, event, corporate and business sector.

Anthony was General Manager and Content Director for the Fairfax Radio Network in Brisbane from 2012 and 2015 and a content director, broadcaster and trainer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) between 1988 and 2008. From 2009 to 2012 Anthony worked at The University of Queensland (UQ) as Director Learning, Engagement, Innovation & Development for the School of Journalism and Communication. He created the first 24/7 online radio station for UQ and co-ordinated World Press Freedom Day Radio for UNESCO in 2010. Anthony continues teaching in journalism and communication at UQ today.

Anthony is a regular speaker and trainer on media and natural disasters, including guest speaker at the 2017 Fire, Cyclone & Flood Disaster Management and Recovery Forum; the 2015 UN Regional Workshop on Social Media & Disaster Risk in South Korea; UQ School of Public Health and at the Reimaging Resilience Speakers Series in Brisbane. He has conducted media and disaster workshops in India, Vanuatu, Tonga, Solomon Islands and more recently in Kuala Lumpur for AIBD-IPDC UNESCO. He returns to KL in 2018. Anthony co-authored a disaster reporting teaching module for London-based Commonwealth Broadcasting Association. He is co-founder of the ‘Ready Qld Emergency App’.

Anthony is author of three books, ‘Radio Toolbox – A guide to getting started in radio in the digital age’; ‘So you want Media Coverage’ and ‘Presentation Skills for Business and Job Interviews’, 2017.
